Subic Bay --- Capitalizing on a 2nd half collapse of the Amihan Monsoon's defense, the Brent International School Razorbacks blasted the visitors 7-1, gunning in 6 goals in the last 35 minutes of their first friendly match at the Brent school football field yesterday.
Coach David Bayarong said he was pleasantly surprised that the Monsoons held the Razorbacks at bay one goal a piece at the first half.
'The team played decent but was exhausted by the 40th minute. Obviously, we need to trust each other and everyone must step up to their roles in the game,' Caoch David said.
This was the maiden 11vs11 game of the 12 under team of Amihan Football Club since it was formed last February.
On a bright note, 10-year-old reserve Benjoe Yordan slotted in the only goal for the visitors on the 23rd minute, some 4 minutes after entering the game.
Team manager John Bayarong said he was disappointed that some players failed to show up, but noted that the reserves stepped up to the plate and 'delivered impressive performances.'
'I saw talents that can dominate the game given a few more years. Imagine a 10-year-old scoring a goal on his first 11vs11 game and a goalie saving nine of 16 point blank, on target shots gives a glimpse of a bright future for football in the Subic Bay area,' the beaming manager noted.
Bayarong also thanked Brent School activities director Stephen Davis for opening up their football program to the young booters of Amihan FC.
Meanwhile, the Amihan FC seniors team is set to battle it out with five team from Manila, Baguio and Naga cities at the Kick Sand Beach Football tournament at the Boardwalk area on Sunday, April 17. The tournament was organized by the BEach Football Association of the Philippines (BFAP). Game starts at 7:30 in the morning. (Amihan Bulletin)
